How does Year 7 entry work at Jumeirah College?

Every Year 7 applicant to Jumeirah College sits CAT4, and the school selects on the results before applying its priority order. For September 2027 entry, most applicants apply by 8am on Friday 30 October 2026 and sit CAT4 on Saturday 14 November 2026. Offers follow in the week starting 4 January 2027.

Jumeirah College is a GEMS school in Al Safa, Dubai, teaching the National Curriculum for England from Year 7 to Year 13. The facts below are from its admission and registration policy for 2027-28 and its fees pages, read on 17 October 2026.

How does the school choose?

The policy says demand for Year 7 places is significant and that the school selects the students most able to thrive. Every applicant sits CAT4. Among successful applicants the school then applies a priority order: Emirati nationals, then Jumeirah Primary School Year 6 pupils, then siblings, children of staff, and then Year 6 pupils from other schools. It does not publish the number of Year 7 places.

What are the dates?

Jumeirah College Year 7 entry, September 2027. From the school’s policy, read 17 October 2026.

Dubai College’s assessment is on Sunday 15 November 2026, one day after Jumeirah College’s main assessment day, so a family applying to both has two sittings on consecutive days. Both dates are from the schools’ own pages.

What does the test involve?

CAT4 online at the school, with verbal, non-verbal, quantitative and spatial reasoning questions, all multiple choice, taking 1.5 to 2 hours. It is a series of short timed tests, and each starts with practice questions that are neither timed nor marked. The school gives no further information about the assessment, to keep it fair. It also takes into account projected attainment and reports from the current school, and evidence of excellence beyond the curriculum such as sport, drama, music, the arts, leadership or innovation.

What does it cost?

Jumeirah College costs as published, read 17 October 2026. Fees for 2027-2028 were not published when we checked.
ItemAmount
Application feeAED 525, waived for children already at a GEMS school who give their GEMS student ID
Tuition, Year 7AED 78,946 for 2026-2027, from the KHDA fee fact sheet
Deposit on accepting an offer10% of the year’s tuition, set against that year’s fees

What if we live outside Dubai, or miss the deadline?

Overseas applicants sit CAT4 at their current school. Applications after the deadline go on the waiting list only, and applicants who meet the criteria join the waiting list, with GEMS Education helping families find a place at another of its schools. Tours run by appointment at 8.45am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for Years 7 to 11.

What about practice?

GL Assessment, which publishes CAT4, advises against practising and says each section opens with untimed practice examples. If a family would still like a child to meet the on-screen format first, that is what our CAT4 familiarisation is for: no coaching, and no claim about results. See CAT4 explained for parents.
