    Your child joins Year 7.

The cycle is for entry to Year 7 in the academic year starting August 2027.

The assessment.

What the school itself says comes first. What preparation providers report is kept apart and labelled, because the two do not always agree.

What the school says

  • The school does not name the test. It describes an adaptive online assessment and says the platform and question style are very similar to standard online tests such as CAT4 and GL Progress Tests.

  • One adaptive online assessment taking about 2 hours, with modules in English, mathematics and non-verbal reasoning.

  • Held at Dubai College on Sunday 15 November 2026, with all equipment provided.

  • The platform and question style are very similar to standard online tests such as CAT4 and GL Progress Tests.

  • Arabic A is also assessed for students registered with an Arab nationality, or studying Arabic A by choice: a 45-minute written paper plus a spoken assessment.

  • The Admissions Panel also considers the end of Year 5 report, end of Year 5 GL Progress Test results (or an equivalent such as MAP), the latest CAT4 or standardised results, the extra-curricular template and any SEND or medical information.

  • Access arrangements may need a recent educational psychologist report, an IEP or a letter from the school's SENCO.

  • The school will not answer individual requests for more detail on the assessment and asks families not to ask staff.

  • The school does not endorse tutoring for its entrance assessment. In the school’s words: “Dubai College does not endorse tutoring for our entrance assessment.”

  • Applicants living outside the UAE need not travel: assessments can be run under exam conditions by the child's current school.

What preparation providers report

Reported by prep providers
  • Pretest Plus says Dubai College may use either the AAT (Adaptive Admissions Test) or Primary Insight (INCAS), and that the AAT was used in the year before its page was written.

  • Pretest Plus lists four AAT areas with timings: verbal reasoning 36 minutes, non-verbal reasoning 32 minutes, English 25 minutes and mathematics 50 minutes (143 minutes in total).

  • Pretest Plus states that the AAT is made by GL Assessment and gives its practice test as four modules lasting 2 hours 15 minutes in total.

  • Edflik's 2027 entry guide lists English, mathematics and non-verbal reasoning, and treats verbal reasoning as unconfirmed for this school.

How Mockplan practises it

Our full mocks follow the three modules the school lists: English, mathematics and non-verbal reasoning. A four-module option adds verbal reasoning, which some prep providers still describe. Timings and question counts are based on publicly reported information and are not official.

Full mock, by default
English, Mathematics, Non-verbal reasoning
Optional extra
Verbal reasoning

We do not offer Arabic practice. The school assesses Arabic A for some applicants; Mockplan does not cover it.

The real assessment is adaptive. Our adaptive practice gives a feel for questions that change difficulty with each answer. It does not reproduce the school’s assessment, and no score here predicts an outcome.

Our view

What to prepare.

The topics we practise for each module, grouped as the syllabus groups them. Each topic opens a focused drill.

Mathematics

Number, arithmetic, fractions, algebra, geometry, measurement and data at upper primary level.

Fractions, decimals and percentages

Non-verbal reasoning

Shapes and patterns. Rarely taught in primary school, so familiarity matters most here.

Sequences and patterns

Verbal reasoning

Optional: not in the school’s list

Not in the school's published module list. Offered as optional practice because some providers still describe it.

How adaptive practice mixes them

Parent questions.

Answered from the school’s own information. Anything else is marked as our view.
What does the entrance assessment cover?

One adaptive assessment on screen of about 2 hours, with modules in English, mathematics and non-verbal reasoning. Children registered with an Arab nationality, or studying Arabic A by choice, also sit a 45-minute written Arabic paper and a spoken assessment.

When and where is it?

Sunday 15 November 2026 at Dubai College. Keep the morning and afternoon free; the school confirms the arrangements to registered applicants beforehand.

What is the deadline to apply?

Tuesday 27 October 2026 at 12 noon UAE time. The school does not accept late applications.

How much does it cost to apply?

AED 525 including VAT, paid with the online application.

Can my child sit the assessment again next year?

No. A child may sit the Year 7 entrance assessment only once.

What else does the school look at?

The end of Year 5 report, end of Year 5 GL Progress Test results (or an equivalent such as MAP), the latest CAT4 or standardised results, the optional extra-curricular template and any SEND or medical information.

How competitive is it?

There are 176 Year 7 places for August 2027. For August 2026 entry there were more than four applications per place.

Can my child have access arrangements?

Indicate any barriers to learning on the application. The school may ask for a recent educational psychologist report, an IEP or a letter from your child's SENCO.

We live outside the UAE. Do we need to travel?

No. The assessment can be run under exam conditions by your child's current school. The application deadline is the same as for families in the UAE.

When will we hear?

By email in mid-January 2027. A deposit of 10% of annual tuition then secures a place by the end of January 2027.

Does the school recommend tutoring?

No. The school says it does not endorse tutoring for its entrance assessment.

Is verbal reasoning tested?

The school's own list of modules does not include verbal reasoning. Some prep providers still describe a four-module test with verbal reasoning, so our verbal practice is optional and our full mocks default to the school's three modules.

Our view
Is this the AAT?

The school does not name its test. Prep providers call it the AAT (Adaptive Admissions Test). We describe it as the Dubai College entrance assessment and treat outside descriptions as reported, not confirmed.

How does Mockplan fit with the school's view on tutoring?

We offer familiarisation, not coaching: realistic practice in the on-screen format and question types, so the day itself holds fewer surprises. We make no predictions about results.
