Who writes these pages
Pages on this blog are researched, written and published by the Mockplan Editorial Team. We do not put an individual's name on a page. If a qualified person reviews a page in future and agrees to be named, their name will appear on that page with what they reviewed; we will never invent a reviewer or a credential.
Where our facts come from
We go to the source first: the school's own admissions pages and policies, the test publisher's own information, and the education regulators and government. Reputable press comes second. We cite another preparation provider only when a page is about what that provider says, and then we say so and link to it.
Every fact on a page links to its source inline or in the Sources list at the foot of the page, with the date we read it. Each key fact is a single sentence with its source named, so it can be quoted accurately.
How we check a page before it goes live
- A brief sets out the question the page answers and the facts it must carry.
- The draft is written from the sources, with each fact linked.
- On the day of publishing, every fact is re-read at its source and the date of that check is recorded on the page as Facts checked. Anything that no longer matches is corrected or removed.
- The page is checked on a phone-sized screen for layout and readability.
- An automated check confirms the page has its sources, dates, notices and links, and that no link leads nowhere.
How we write
- Every page answers its question in the first sentences, in plain UK English.
- Anything that is our judgement rather than a sourced fact is labelled "our view".
- Where a school does not publish something, a "What we don't know" box says so rather than guessing.
- Timings, counts or difficulty that do not come from a school are described as based on publicly reported information.
- We never promise or predict a result, and we never describe our practice as the school's own test or papers.
- Every page is original. We do not copy or closely reword other providers' pages, questions, tables or diagrams.
- We use software tools, including AI tools, in research and drafting. They do not decide what a page says: every fact on a page is checked against the source listed for it before the page goes live.
Independence
Mockplan is independent. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any school or test publisher, and every page that names one carries a notice saying so. No school, publisher or provider pays for a mention. Some schools, such as Dubai College, state that they do not endorse tutoring for their assessments; where a school says this, our page says so too, and links to it.
Pages that point to Mockplan practice say so plainly. Prices and product details on a page are read from the same records as the rest of the site, never typed by hand.
What you will not find here
- Testimonials or reviews, real or invented.
- Photographs of identifiable children.
- School logos, crests, uniforms or photographs of school sites.
- Real names of children in examples.
Dates and corrections
Each page shows when it was last reviewed and when its facts were last checked. School information changes every year, so we re-check pages when a school publishes new dates and update them in place, keeping the same address.
If you find something wrong or out of date, please tell us through the contact page, with the page address and what you found. We check every report against the source and, if it is right, correct the page and update its dates.
